Notes from the Artist.

To my dear and passionate art dealers (and Art curators),

Throughout my career, I’ve heard the phrase “You can’t make a living from art.” It was repeated so often during my childhood that I pursued another career before the obvious one because I “needed to secure my future.” Surprisingly, I found art right there in a career I thought would be so different, and little by little, it led me to live this dream.
Living from art is possible, living from your passion is possible. The only difference, and probably what most distinguishes us as passionate individuals, is the hundred times more intense work we put into our passion than into the everyday world. It is precisely this that makes us superhuman, and as I like to call ourselves, perhaps in a slightly egocentric but powerful way, “blue-blooded immortals,” because what you encounter on the path to your dream is something only you will be able to know once you’re on the other side. That and our undeniable skill to listen to our gut.

I think it’s important to remind you of this right before we begin our adventure together so that you arrive with the necessary motivation and the burning desire to conquer that dream. For a moment, let go of the stigmas and the intense pressure of competition in the market. There’s room for everyone in this world, and there’s something for everyone, because we all have completely different and personal ideas. As we work together, I want you to become part of the artwork, to immerse yourself in the story and the expression so that you can carry the message with you to all your potential clients. Selling art is very difficult, but selling stories is incredibly easy. All human beings are constantly searching for stories that connect, and you and I are in the perfect place to tell them beautifully.

So take all your fears and hold on tight, because this is where we’re going to use them more than ever, to create inexplicable and exotic artwork. You have a big task with me before we begin, my friend: Observe. Feel. Project.

Because yes, YOU CAN MAKE A LIVING FROM ART, and you can live very well 😉

You just need to do the work, and that work is only inside you.

With Love,

-Edgar Orozco
